Online Learning
MACC has partnered with John Wood Community College and Southeastern Community College to form the Tri-State Community College Consortium. This consortium was created to offer selected general education courses and an online Associate of Applied Science degree in Computer Information Technology with a business focus. The courses are made available through the eCollege Course Management System. Students participate in the courses in a variety of ways including e-mail, online message board discussions, and online journals. There is not a set time that you must access the course, which gives you flexibility.
It is strongly recommended you have a familiarity with how the Internet works and the ability to create an e-mail account. For some courses you will need to be familiar with uploading files using Web forms and/or File Transfer Protocol (FTP). Please see the technical requirements page for the minimum specifications your computer must meet to use the eCollege system.

Hybrid
Hybrid courses combine a traditional classroom setting with an online (Web-based) component, which reduces the amount of time actually spent in a classroom. Hybrid courses meet 50 percent of the class time in a traditional classroom and 50 percent of the class time online. Hybrid courses use the eCollege Course Management System to facilitate course work and virtual classroom interaction between students, their peers, and faculty members. Students may also use e-mail, chat rooms and virtual drop boxes along with traditional face-to-face interaction of the classroom to complete course work.
Hybrids offer the convenience and flexibility of online courses combined with the ability to work directly with your instructor and other students in the classroom and online. So, if you are looking for the best of both worlds - both in-class and online learning - then hybrid courses are for you!
In return for this flexibility and convenience, students take responsibility for their learning by using time management skills, and staying current with readings and assignments. Logging in to the course on a regular basis allows access to important class information and communication with fellow students and the professor. If you are familiar with how the Internet works, with e-mail and e-mail attachments, you already have the basic skills needed to succeed in a hybrid course. Please see the technical requirements page for the minimum specifications your computer must meet to use the eCollege system.

ITV (Interactive Television)
An ITV course meets in a traditional classroom. Classes are held with one or more MACC campuses through a video conferencing connection. The instructor is either onsite or you view them over live television. Both you and the instructor are able to see and hear each other in real time. The two-way audio and video conferencing connection enables students to fully participate in the class, asking and responding to questions from the instructor or students at other sites. Telephones in each classroom provide instant access to the instructor for private communications. In-room FAX machines and mailboxes facilitate movement of materials to and from the instructor.
ITV courses provide flexibility and convenience in course offerings, which allows you to choose a campus closer to home or work, yet fully participate in the regularly scheduled class.
